Sheffield Wednesday Ladies First Team will face off against York City Ladies Development for a second successive week, where they will hope to follow up on a brilliant win at the SWFCCP Jubilee Sports Club.
The Owlesses managed to notch their first home win of the 2024/25 campaign against York City, with Harriet Lloyd and Nicole Shaw's strikes being decisive in a brilliant 2-1 victory for Andy Gilligan and Gary Wilson's side.
It was also a resolute performance across the backline at the weekend for Wednesday Ladies, with Eleanor Vessey's matured performance at left-back warranting a recognition as being the Player of the Match, whilst Skye Webster made some pivotal saves in-between the sticks to limit the visitors to one goal.
The win at the weekend meant that Wednesday Ladies solidified their 7th place in the NERWFL league table with just one game remaining before the winter break, and a second successive win could see the Owlesses jump up to 4th, albeit having played more games than the sides around them.
York City attacker Lucy Fairbank notched the only goal for her side at the weekend, and she is one for the Owlesses to keep close tabs on, having notched three goals this campaign, whilst they may very well turn to their top scorer Isobel Eaton, who bagged the assist for Fairbank's finish.
The game will take place at York St John University for a 2pm kick-off this Sunday, we hope to see as many of you there as possible!
