Our U10s faced Maltby, off to a slow start trying to find their feet, but after ten minutes they quickly stared to dominate the game with a quick press style of football. The midfield controlled their position with some great passing and movement. Floss up front was incredible opening up great channels with her speed and fast footwork. Megan was outstanding in goal and made some incredible saves. Player of the match goes to Isla for her fantastic defending and work on the wing. And the Star performer went to Tyra who dominated on the wing and upfront.
Sheffield Wednesday Ladies U13 Whites saw out another 0-0 draw at home today against Penistone.
An excellent game of football, The girls finished 0-0 and played in an excellent atmosphere allowing them to thrive and enjoy their football.
The bedrock of any good side is a side that can defend before anything else. The girls have learnt how you must earn the right to play in any game and not conceding means you always have a chance to win a game of football. Offensively at the moment the team is lacking numbers and it’s tricky to mix things up but the girls responded to the pre-match talk and tried to move the ball quickly through the lines, knowing any space would be gone in a few seconds.
The team does a lot in training about never giving up on a ball, keeping the pressure on, staying compact and co-ordinated and reacting to 1st and 2nd balls - the improvement in this area has been excellent from the girls who are clearly listening.
It’s really rewarding and they should be proud of themselves with how far they’ve come
We always struggle to pick players out to mention individually and this is a clear testament to how hard they work for each other. They are a team and for that reason they all deserve praise.
In the end the post saved Penistone and likewise our number was there when we needed her pulling off an amazing save in the dying minutes. The team end this week with 3 to go and 9 points to play for.
The U13s Blue had a fantastic weekend with a 6-0 win away to SJR Workshop. A brilliant team performance from our U14 girls. From the very beginning of the game to the final whistle the girls had complete control on the pitch. The team quickly took the lead through Oona and consequently continued the pressure to lead 5-0 at halftime with three goals from Talia and an ice-cold penalty from Ava. Lucy scored in the second half, completed the game and gained the team a valuable three points against a promotion rival.
Our U16s won 5-0 away in Eckington Belles, with a comfortable victory, we controlled the game in the first half and went into half time 2-0 up. The girls snapped back into life in the final 20 minutes to pull away and give the score line a justified look, Trinity scored and Alice scored an astounding four goals.
