SWLFC Development were forced to settle for a point after a dramatic 4–4 draw with Swallownest, despite producing a dominant display for much of the contest.

Wednesday made a bright start and enjoyed plenty of the early play, but it was the visitors who opened the scoring with a finish from a tight angle.
The response arrived in the 25th minute. Tilly Ironside’s through ball released Sophie Goodwin, who got there ahead of the defence to poke home and bring the Development side level.
With Wednesday beginning to find their rhythm, the turnaround was soon complete. Ruby Foster played Lexi Wyborn through, with Wyborn keeping her composure to finish smartly and put the hosts 2–1 ahead.
The advantage was extended before the interval. Megan Hammond provided the assist for Summer Ingham, who found the net to send Wednesday into half-time with a deserved 3–1 lead.
SWLFC continued to create opportunities after the restart and looked capable of adding to their advantage, but the complexion of the contest changed dramatically during the final 15 minutes.
Swallownest reduced the deficit on 75 minutes after Wednesday failed to deal with a long ball forward, before increasing the pressure and finding an equaliser five minutes later.
The visitors then completed an unlikely turnaround deep into stoppage time, scoring in the 92nd minute to make it 4–3 and leave Wednesday facing defeat after having led by two goals.
There was, however, one final twist.
Throwing everything forward in search of an equaliser, Wyborn found Hammond on the edge of the area. She turned before unleashing a superb strike into the net with virtually the final kick of the game, rescuing a point for Wednesday in dramatic fashion.
It was ultimately a frustrating afternoon for the Development side, who controlled large periods of the game and created enough opportunities to take all three points, but had to settle for a share of the spoils following a remarkable finish.

Sheffield Wednesday Ladies Reserves produced a commanding all-round performance to claim a deserved 3-0 victory over Penistone, with goals from Sheridan Betts, Imogen Harrison-Devereaux and Eve Bamford sealing the points.
Wednesday controlled proceedings for large spells, creating chances from the outset before turning their dominance into a convincing result after the break.
The Owls made a bright start and could have established a sizeable advantage inside the opening ten minutes, with a number of early opportunities going begging as Penistone were forced onto the back foot.
Despite Wednesday’s control, the breakthrough did not arrive until the 33rd minute – and it was well worth the wait.
Sheridan Betts stepped up to a free-kick from around 30 yards and produced a superb strike, beating the Penistone goalkeeper to give Wednesday the lead their performance deserved.
The hosts remained in control for the remainder of the half and took a slender but deserved advantage into the interval.
Half-time: Wednesday 1-0 Penistone
Wednesday picked up where they left off following the restart, controlling possession and limiting Penistone to very few opportunities at the other end.
Chances continued to come as the Owls searched for the second goal that would give them breathing space, and their persistence was eventually rewarded in the 69th minute.
Eve Bamford produced a perfectly weighted through ball to split the Penistone defence and release Imogen Harrison-Devereaux, who kept her composure to race clear and calmly finish beyond the advancing goalkeeper.
With a two-goal advantage established, Wednesday continued to push forward rather than settle for what they had.
Wainwright and Clarke combined effectively down one flank, while Boden, Barnes and Wigfield provided a consistent threat on the opposite side as the Owls continued to stretch the Penistone defence.
That pressure resulted in a third goal six minutes later.
Bamford, having already provided the assist for Wednesday’s second, collected possession on the edge of the penalty area before beating two defenders and guiding a composed finish beyond the goalkeeper. Her effort found the bottom corner via the post to cap an impressive individual contribution.
Wednesday remained assured through the closing stages to see out the contest and complete a thoroughly deserved victory.
While the attacking performance provided three goals, the Owls were equally impressive defensively. A disciplined display from the back five restricted Penistone throughout and secured a deserved clean sheet, providing the foundation for an excellent team performance.
