A squad featuring a blend of first-team and reserve players earned further valuable minutes ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with Lloyd cancelling out the hosts’ first-half opener.

Wednesday made a bright start to proceedings and enjoyed the better of the early exchanges, moving the ball with purpose and looking to find openings in the Brodsworth backline.

Both sides remained well organised, though, and clear-cut chances were at a premium during the opening stages.

It was the hosts who eventually found the breakthrough.

A long ball over the top caused problems inside the Wednesday area and, following a goalmouth scramble, Brodsworth managed to force the ball over the line to take the advantage into the interval.

The Owls returned for the second half with renewed purpose and quickly began asking questions of the home defence.

Gregory and Bennett combined particularly well in the attacking areas, while Wednesday continued to move the ball effectively despite a difficult and lively playing surface.

The visitors’ increasing pressure was eventually rewarded.

Trialist Lloyd showed excellent composure to turn her marker before producing a superb finish from a tight angle, lifting the ball over the advancing goalkeeper and into the far corner to draw Wednesday level.

With parity restored, the contest opened up as both sides went in search of a winner.

Opportunities arrived at either end during the closing stages, but both goalkeepers were called upon to make important saves as the two sides ultimately settled for a share of the spoils.

There were plenty of positives for Wednesday to take from another useful pre-season exercise, with valuable minutes spread across a squad featuring players from both the first team and reserves.

Gracie Walsh also impressed on her debut, producing a composed and assured display after being introduced for the second half.

Elsewhere, Eve Bennett delivered another strong performance and was named Wednesday’s Player of the Match.

Another important afternoon of work in the legs as preparations for the new campaign continue.
