Match preview: Wednesday travel to Rossington in final game battle for third

Charles Garrett24 Apr - 11:30

Sheffield Wednesday travel to 5th-placed Rossington for their final away fixture of the 25/26 campaign.

Following a tough defeat against Leeds Modernians, Wednesday are looking for their first win in three against close rivals, Rossington, who sit just two points behind the Owlesses.

Despite the score-line, coach Kieron Lee didn't believe it truly reflected the performance shown by the squad and took away positives:

"The girls bought into the plan, and we had it worked well. However, we needed to score first to keep the pressure on."

As the race for third goes to the final day, Lee reflected on the squad’s attitude and determination:

"It would be a great achievement to finish 3rd in this division. There has been a lot of work put in from the squad and management team over the past year."

Having beaten Rossington 6-4 just over a month ago, Lee spoke about what he was expecting from Sunday's opponents:

"We will show Rossington the utmost respect. They have had a great season, but we want the points, and we will be ready. We will give it all we've got to finish this season on a high."

Wednesday sit just a point behind Altofts, who face league leaders Leeds Modernians. Let's hope the results can go in the Owlesses favour, and we can achieve a 3rd place finish.

Kick off is set for 2pm at Oxford Street, Rossington, DN11 OTE.
