The Owlesses return to action following a three-week break as they travel to West Yorkshire to face Lower Hopton Ladies on Remembrance Sunday.
Wednesday make the trip to Woodend Road in Mirfield looking to build on their impressive 5–0 victory over Parkgate Ladies in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Cup, with their attention now turning back to league matters.
The Owlesses have been without competitive action for three weeks following a series of fixture postponements, but will be looking to rediscover their rhythm and build momentum as they return to the pitch.
Wednesday’s last outing saw them produce a commanding performance against Parkgate, securing progression to the third round of the County Cup. Amy Broomhead led the scoring with a first-half hat-trick, while Nicole Shaw added her name to the scoresheet alongside Eve Bennett, who registered her first goal of the campaign.
Renée Simmonite-Scott will once again lead the side from the touchline, alongside Jess Birtles and Laurie Millington, as the coaching team look to build on that convincing cup performance and translate it into a positive run of league results.
Birtles is also available for selection, although her involvement will continue to be carefully managed following her return from injury.
Wednesday remain without midfielder Milly Colford, who continues her recovery from a Weber B fracture. While Colford is making encouraging progress, she remains sidelined for the longer term.
Jodie Gregory and Rachel Norsworthy are also progressing well in their respective recoveries from broken collarbones sustained earlier in the autumn. However, both remain unavailable for selection as they work towards a return to competitive action.
The Owlesses will also be without Abbie Hastie and midfielder Jodie Stancill this Sunday due to prior commitments.
Elsewhere, the Owlesses have a largely available squad heading into Sunday’s fixture.
This weekend’s hosts, Lower Hopton Ladies, currently occupy ninth place in the league table, having collected six points from their opening seven fixtures.
Their most recent outing ended in a 4–2 defeat away to Evolution, and the West Yorkshire side will be looking to respond on home soil.
With three weeks having passed since their last competitive fixture, Wednesday will be determined to make a positive return to league action and carry forward the confidence gained from their emphatic County Cup victory.
Sunday’s encounter will also mark the club’s annual Remembrance fixture, with a minute’s silence observed ahead of kick-off as both sides come together to remember and honour those who have lost their lives in service.
