Difficult conditions for the U9’s, however they played their part throughout, with persistent heavy rain providing a new challenge for many of the players, but the group continued to battle and showed plenty of character.

The Under-10s faced Dronfield this weekend, producing a determined team performance against strong opposition.

The girls battled from the first whistle and continued to grow into the game, looking increasingly confident and assured as the contest progressed.

Our Under-12 Blues came away with a fantastic 3-2 victory on the road against Sheffield United in a steel city derby.

It was an end-to-end contest full of quality from both sides, with Wednesday hitting both the post and crossbar, while the hosts also struck the woodwork.

The girls enjoyed a dominant spell where they pinned the opposition back and created chance after chance, eventually getting their reward to secure an excellent result.

A superb team performance and a game to be proud of.

Our Under-15s White continued their winning start to the season with a hard-earned victory away at Bentley.

With the hosts’ pitch making it difficult for Wednesday to play their usual football, the girls had to dig deep in a competitive contest. The Owls went into the break level at 1-1.

Chances were limited after the restart as the game became a real battle of determination, before an unfortunate Bentley own goal with around 10 minutes remaining put Wednesday ahead.

The girls managed the closing stages superbly to secure all three points and maintain their winning start to the campaign. An honest, hard-working away performance from the whole group.

Our Under-16s Blue faced fellow Wednesday side Under-16s White in the County Cup this weekend.

The Whites took an early lead before the Blues struck quickly to bring the score level. From there, the Whites took control of the contest and produced a strong performance to establish their advantage.

The Blues continued to battle throughout but were ultimately beaten 5-1, bringing the whites’ County Cup campaign to an end.

Our Under-18s travelled to league leaders Parkgate and found themselves 3-0 down during a difficult opening period.

A change in formation and personnel from Renée Simmonite-Scott, sparked an excellent response, reducing the deficit to 3-2.

Parkgate restored their two-goal advantage on the counter, but Wednesday refused to give in. With around 10 minutes remaining, Wednesday grabbed another with a superb finish, bringing the ball under control before lifting it over the goalkeeper to make it 4-3.

The girls pushed hard for a late equaliser, but it wasn’t to be as an impressive fightback ultimately fell just short.

All round, it was another weekend of development, determination and plenty of positives across our junior section.
