Our Under-9s showed great spirit in an end to end game against Brunsmeer and a much improved performance to previous fixtures.

Our U10s didn’t have a fixture scheduled for this weekend.

The Under-11s continued their development against Brinsworth, with plenty of positives to take from the performance.

Wednesday worked hard throughout, showing good togetherness and continuing to build as a new-look squad.

Wednesday U12 Blue went into the game against top of the table, Kiveton, having gone 11 consecutive matches unbeaten, a fantastic achievement for the group and a reflection of the progress they have made together.

It proved to be a tough afternoon against strong opposition, with both sides producing an entertaining and competitive game of football. The Owls battled throughout and continued to give everything as the contest remained finely balanced heading into the closing stages.

Ultimately, there was little to separate the two teams, with Kiveton finding the decisive goal just five minutes from time to bring Wednesday’s unbeaten sequence to an end.

A volley from the Owls in the second half levelled the score. Kiveton then won a free kick on the edge of the area, but a great save from the goalkeeper kept it out, the defender tried to clear the ball, but unfortunately it bounced off an opposition player’s leg to make the final score 1-2.

The white side of the U12’s also did not have a fixture scheduled.

Our Under-13s drew 0–0 away at Wath on Saturday, with both defences standing strong. Chances were limited throughout, with neither side able to create many clear shooting opportunities. Despite the lack of goals, the girls showed excellent defensive organisation, determination and resilience to keep a clean sheet against a strong Wath side.

The Under-14s also picked up a great win away at Swallownest, with the girls scoring the winner with just 10 minutes left to play in a tightly fought game.

The Under-15s Blues also had a successful weekend, winning 6–1 at home to East Hull. This was also the side’s first league game of the season, getting all three points at the first time of asking.

The Under-16s Blues also had a difficult weekend, losing away at Donny Belles Greens. Although the side had a dream start, getting themselves two goals up, the game turned as the blues didn’t get the basics right, ultimately losing the game.

Our Under-16s Whites also picked up a good result at the weekend, winning 6–0 at home to Dronfield Reds. With Dronfield unfortunately arriving with only nine players, Wednesday reduced their numbers to ten to make the game more competitive. The Whites made a quick start, scoring the opener after just four minutes, with the score remaining 1–0 until the break.

The second half was a different story as Wednesday increased the tempo and began moving the ball much quicker. Wednesday doubled the lead from a great pass before making it 3–0 with an excellent strike from around 20 yards. They added a fourth after being played through, flicking the ball into the path of the striker to grab her second of the afternoon. In our headliner game, the Under-18s had a tough weekend, losing 3–2 at home to a strong Sheffield F.C. Under-18s side. It was Sheffield F.C. who took an early 2–0 lead, before the Owls showed good character to get back into the game, with Sheffield F.C. leading 3–1 at half-time.
